According to reports, the company Proyectora Ecovid SAS, owned by López, was the target of the crime. Criminals entered the facilities and took two safes containing very important documents. The former official’s lawyer, José Moreno, has assured that these events would not be linked to the corruption scandal in the Ungrd, although he stressed that this is not the first time that López and his family have been victims of crime.
The robbery occurred on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, around 8:00 pm, in the town of Tabalaza, municipality of La Estrella, where the company that manufactures and markets cleaning products is located. Four still unidentified men entered the company taking advantage of the absence of workers. The guard present at the scene was gagged and tied to allow the criminals to act unhindered.
