A few months after the registration of the Bolero as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanitycontinuing with the objective of making visible and disseminating the cultural practice of this, as well as those who carry it out, the First International Competition of Live Bolero, Literary and Musical, in Spanish.

The above was convened by several entities, including the Federal Ministry of Culture, the National Sound Library, Channel 22, the Executive Directorate of Cultural and Tourism Diplomacy, the Cuban Embassy in Mexico, the Cuban Music Institute, the Ibero-American Network of Cultural Diplomacy, the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation and the Elefanta Publishing House.

At the press conference, the Cultural Counselor of the Cuban Embassy in Mexico, Norma Rodriguez Derivetreviewed the history of the Boleto in Cuba and how it arrived in Mexico through the port of Veracruz, which led to a very relevant cultural exchange.

For his part, the director of the National Sound Library, Francisco Rivas Mesastressed the importance of this type of initiatives to contribute “to promote a culture of listening“and confirm that the sound archive kept in the House of Sounds of Mexico is alive and connected to society.”

The details of the call

  • All Spanish-speaking people over 18 years of age may participate.
  • There are two categories available: Literary Composition and Musical Composition
  • Applicants must declare the copyright and property rights of the work they are applying for.
  • That the work is unpublished.
  • Applications will be accepted online until Friday, August 2 at 11:59 p.m.
  • Three economic incentives and 10 awards will be given per category.
  • The results will be announced on August 25th.
