The parliamentarians warned that the request for tips has been extended to services such as delivery, fast food or hairdressers.

The legislators, among whom are Roberto Arroyo (PSC), Joanna Pérez (Democrats) and Yovana Ahumada (IND-Democrats) seek to modify the Labor Code, since the request for tips has been extended to activities that go beyond the gastronomic sector. .

Among these is paying tips to delivery services, fast food establishments and even hair salons, where it is suggested to give an extra to the people who perform these services.

The deputies accused that there are “frequent situations in which clients are subjected to undue pressure from establishment officials, who They try to get an extra tip even after the service has been paid in full.”

This is why they ask to modify article 64 of the Labor Code, pointing out that “both in the establishments indicated in the preceding paragraph, as well as in all those in which attention to the public through garzones does not exist or is not required, The employer must take the necessary measures so that its employees do not proceed to inconvenience customers who attend said establishment by requesting or suggesting that they tip for the service received.”

“In the event that the employer does not take measures to avoid such action, he will be sanctioned with a fine for tax benefits of three to five monthly tax units,” adds the motion released by radio Cooperativa.
