Wout Poels is experiencing a second youth and, in 2023 at the age of 36, he won stages in the Tour and Vuelta. The Dutchman left several interesting phrases in an interview, among which he defended Chris Froome for continuing to try at his age or criticized the format of the Olympics.

“What they did with the Olympic places is ridiculous,” he told GCN. “I have the feeling that in the last ten years runners began to take them more seriously, to make them a goal. It is a shame that the peloton is only 90 cyclists,” he continued.

“It’s ridiculous because you don’t have the best at the start but you do have runners from countries with no cycling history who can’t even follow the wheel for 10 kilometers,” he said. “The fact that there are only 90 cyclists takes away the shine. We, in the Netherlands, will have three places, it is impossible to control a race and you end up making alliances with other countries,” he criticized. “Still, if you ask me, I want to go,” Poels concluded.

Additionally, we want to report MARCA HORA, to the site ViewMe, and another Latin American multimedia, which also steals material for its social networks and is evident when it publishes news on the same day as us that was actually from previous days and we decided to delay. If the incident is repeated, we will hold a public protest.
