Yesterday the 2023 early elections were held, in which several people had to travel -since last Friday- to different destinations to vote. At the Interprovincial Bus Terminal, lines of passengers were seen looking for a ticket to fulfill the right to vote, and others returning to their homes to continue their daily routine after an election day.

Thus, a citizen, who is a Jehovah’s Witness who traveled to Manabí to be able to vote, said that due to her religion she remains in a neutral position and that she does not support any political party or movement and that, for them, there is only the “government of God” and, therefore, the nun stated that this group generally votes null and only does so out of obligation and fully complies with the ordinance established by Jehovah.
Important. Along the same lines, another passenger bound for the East stated that it is a good excuse to spend with the family; In addition, he indicated: “There is no longer hope in political figures, it will only be known if in a few months the real change proposed by the candidates.”
Actions. Keiko Guachamin, a Nutrition student from the Napo province, expressed that there are candidates with extreme and unreal proposals and what the people urgently need is security. The young woman added that she will also visit her parents after a class period and that she is now on vacation.
Interest. Alexander Flores, a passenger, expressed that the student population is exposed to insecurity and feels worried and at risk on a daily basis, and in different places. Also, that people are undecided and only travel or go to the different venues only to avoid paying the fine for not going to vote. In the case of people who could not get an appointment in advance, there were ‘extra buses’ so as not to create chaos and so that there is free movement and fluidity of passengers.
