The club already answered for the field justify themselves the owners from the municipality

Less than a month after the new president of the BFS, Georgi Ivanov-Gonzo, threatened to be uncompromising with the licensing of the stadiums in our country, a third football field turned out to be unfit. It is about that of the first completely new stadium “Hristo Botev”. Ironically, it is hosted by “Heber”, because the grass at the “Georgi Benkovski” stadium is also in a deplorable condition. To this should be added “Hristo Botev” in Vratsa. Because of the salty air, everyone knows that there are also serious problems near the sea of ”Ticha” and “Spartak”.

The grass at the “Hristo Botev” stadium in Plovdiv is sick and is currently being treated with plant protection products. This was reported to “24 Chasa” by Atanas Chilingirov, who supervised the reconstruction of the “College” by the municipality of Plovdiv.

For the construction of a grass cover, an automated irrigation system and a pumping station on the field, a public contract was announced separately from the construction, won in 2022 by “Uni Green” DZZD. The value of the contract is BGN 265,900 excluding VAT. This union, made especially for the stadium, includes the capital’s “Uni 47” OOD, in which Petar Vassilev Vassilev holds 50%, Chavdar Ivanov Nikolov – 49%, and Georgi Yordanov Kolev – 1%, the Burgas “Green Game” OOD, in which Stoyan Nankov Nankov and Lyuboslav Ivov Stankov each hold 50% of the capital, and “VIES Engineering” OOD from Shumen, in which partners are Stefan Pavlov Stefanov (36%), Elena Mitkova Stancheva (32%) and Irena Stefanova Stoineva (32%).

The disease entered the first match of the championship. It is already mastered. For the match with “Heber” sand was poured and because of this the field looked slippery, but it will fall down. High night temperatures in Plovdiv and the fact that the stadium is already closed with four visors have also contributed to the problem. It was stuffy inside the cup and there was no blowing of the grass, which is also a problem that was clearly not foreseen.

“The commitment was fulfilled qualitatively, but the contract expired and the tenant of the stadium – PFC “Botev” – is responsible for the maintenance of the grass. We had an inspection last week because the municipality owns the facility, and we were told that some kind of disease had spread to the grass. They assured us that they have taken measures and are spraying with preparations”, Chilingirov added. Further inspections of the condition of the grass cover by the Plovdiv municipality are pending.

On top of that, apart from the dug-out terrain from which chims flew, it turned out that it wasn’t even drawn. And at one point, Atanas Kabov was wondering where to take a corner from, and the referee Vasil Minev was forced to do what was necessary according to the rules in order to execute the corner correctly.

The problem is really serious, because “Hristo Botev” has been announced for the match with Northern Ireland from the League of Nations on September 8.

There is another problem there, after some recommendations of UEFA’s special envoy, who was in control with Iran at the same stadium and had to give the final assessment of the facility, were not implemented. The Eurocentral is firm in its policy, in contrast to the BFS, which is very attached to its recommendations.

Hristo Botev Stadium is the first completely new facility in our country since the middle of the last century. At the moment, the closest to the completion of its stadium is “Ludogorets”, with only sector “A” left to be demolished and repaired.

The reconstruction of the “Lokomotiv” stadium in Plovdiv also continues.

CSKA also started a new facility on the site of the legendary “Bulgarian Army”.

The biggest obstacle with stadiums turns out to be their ownership. Most are municipal, but there are also a bunch of state ones such as “Georgi Asparuhov”, “Septemvri” and “Lokomotiv” in Sofia.

The only own stadium in Bulgaria is at “Slavia”, where the municipality in the capital is a shareholder in the football club through the infamous “Sofia Properties” company.
