The manager of the This Week textile company in Rosario was shot at this Tuesday morning, when he was about to drop off his son and a friend at the Medalla Milagrosa school in the Alberdi neighborhood, in the north of the city. Seven shots hit the truck and two of them hit the face of the 43-year-old businessman, who consciously entered the Alberdi Hospital, a few meters from the school.

The shooting was perpetrated in José C. Paz y Superí by three suspects who were filmed aboard a motorcycle. According to the film records, the event occurred when the students were admitted to the educational institution, which generated a moment of tension, screams and runs from mothers, fathers and children in the streets surrounding the building.

“He parked on Superí, in the ochava. She was with two students. Three people came on a motorcycle, one stayed in the hood. Two approached him with weapons and began firing bursts of bullets. All the bullets were aimed at the flat,” said Luis García, director of the Medalla Milagrosa school, on Radio 2.

García added that at the time of the shooting, the businessman’s son and his friend were in the vehicle. “When the shots were fired, one came down the back door and went into the school in shock. The other, his son, stayed in the car and walked with him to the hospital. They are boys of 12 and 13 years old, ”he remarked.

One of the minors was withdrawn by his family and the other went with “a friendly family,” the school principal added.

“Classes are held normally. Bah, a normality in quotes. This has to do with the social anesthesia in which we are living. In this area there are many thefts, outbursts and several weeks ago there was a homicide of a mechanic who had been a student at this institution”, he concluded.

Seven firearm holes were found on the driver’s left side. He “entered the hospital with two wounds on his face, lucid, conscious. Healings were performed, a general evaluation and then he was sent to a downtown sanatorium. He was fine, stable, ”said Inés Gaona, the director of the Alberdi hospital, at a press conference.

This Tuesday’s attack was not the first targeting a member of the This Week firm. In mid-June 2020, two hit men on a motorcycle fired five shots at a truck belonging to one of the company’s officials. The vehicle was parked in Zuviría at 7400, where the textile factory works.

The incident at the door of the school in the north was not the only violent event on Tuesday. In Pasaje Maida and the State of Israel, in the southern zone, Germán Patricio Díaz, 42, was riddled with seven shots, who was admitted to the Roque Sáenz Peña Hospital dead.

The investigation of the crime is carried out by the prosecutor Gastón Ávila and the Homicide Division of the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC). At the scene of the murder, forensic experts seized seven served pods.

So far this year, the Rosario department has accumulated 93 intentional homicides, according to the Public Security Observatory. Of that number, 26 occurred in January, 32 in February, 22 in March and 13 so far in April.
