A fraudulent email in the name of the Ministry of Finance is currently circulating on the Internet but in reality it is a virus that can cause computer damage, a local bank warned users.

The email that reaches Internet users notifies them of an alleged tax evasion in the income tax return and asks them to download a file for verification. It was reported that people receive this email with some of the following subjects: “Non-solvent tax return”, “Non-solvent account statement” or “Notice of rejection of your tax return”.

It is suggested not to open the file and delete it immediately. The attached file contains a computer virus that compromises the credentials of any site on the Internet, including the credentials of any banking institution, the bank said.

Users are reminded not to open emails with unknown recipients and to inquire more about the security measures on the different local banking electronic sites.
