The ‘Grandma’s Stories’ application will be launched in Cuba on August 31, in tribute to the writer Nersys Felipe.
Available on that date on the Apklis platform for free download, the app is aimed at children and is already in its final phase of development, according to the state-run Cuban News Agency (ACN).
This product in tribute to the 2011 National Literature Award-winning artist was conceived in the province of Pinar del Río, a project that was also the winner of the El Reino de este mundo creation scholarship, from the Hermanos Saíz Association (AHS).
According to ACN, it contains five stories from the book “Solo un humito”, recorded in the voice of Felipe, who gave life to all the characters.
Its creator, Yusley Izquierdo Sierra, commented to the aforementioned media that “they are short stories, designed precisely as an attractive product for the little ones, and they have the added bonus of having the leading role of their author, who for a long time was part of the dramatic picture of the provincial radio station Radio Guamá”.
The also president of the AHS in the town of Vueltabajo added that the Cuban author had not recorded on the radio for 23 years and returned to “give us a gem also equipped with introductory and farewell words.”
The project arose due to the preference of many people for audiobooks, taking into account “issues of time and accessibility,” as well as the value that dramatic narration deserves, assured Izquierdo.
As for the stories that will be available in the app, it was learned that they address important issues for children and families in a general sense, such as school bullying, racism, caring for grandparents and love beyond physical appearances. .
The rest of the creation team is made up of Yan Carlos Perugorría, who was in charge of the illustrations; Alain Alea, in the development of the app; and Alfredo Rojas, who was in charge of the sound recording.
Finally, Izquierdo announced that a first version is already ready that “we have installed on cell phones and given to the children for their interaction, as part of the testing stage.”
During this period, certain elements have also been corrected and new ideas for animations for the menu have emerged, its creator concluded.
