BFS intends to end the 16-team First League and move to 14 as a matter of urgency.
This will be discussed at Wednesday’s meeting with the clubs. Most of the countries in our group have so many teams in their elite. We gave up under the pressure of Ventsi Stefanov, president of “Slavia” and former member of the executive committee of the headquarters.
The return of two groups to the Second League depends on “Botev” (South). The team had a backup lineup there, but it was relegated.
However, the idea of the BFS is to once again have South and North, and not West and East, as is normal in the current state of our football.
At the moment, in the north, they can barely find teams for the “B” group, while in the south of Bulgaria it is crowded with meraclia. The story of avoiding crossing the Stara planina does not hold up, since thousands do it every day.
And at some point there won’t be enough teams from the north to fill the second tier of our football.
For Bulgaria, the options with 12 teams are good, playing according to the Scottish scheme, which has already brought their giants into the Champions League, as well as the one with 10 teams to play each other 4 times.
However, the big problem remains the lack of infrastructure, which leads to two huge periods without matches – in summer and winter. It’s all because of the lack of heating on the pitches in our country.
Only “Vasil Levski” and “Georgi Asparuhov” in Sofia, the one in Razgrad and the new one of “Botev” in Plovdiv have such facilities.
