Thibault Giroud (48) has signed a four-year contract with the Ile-de-France club, which will take effect upon leaving the World Cup in France, scheduled for September 8 to October 28. According to information from “L’Equipe”, the performance director of the Blues will join Racing 92 after the 2023 World Cup.

“We worked in anticipation so that everyone knows where we are going and with whom we are going,” explained Racing manager Laurent Travers to the sports daily. “It’s the conjunction of two realities that has brought us to this point: on the one hand, the people currently in charge of the physical preparation of Racing have expressed the wish to leave for other projects within ten -eight or twenty-four months and another, Thibault Giroud was at the end of the contract in 2023, after the World Cup, ”he added.

Giroud is a jack-of-all-trades: a former American football or rugby player, he also practiced bobsleigh, taking part in the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City, before collaborating with the Namibian sprinter Frankie Fredericks, Olympic multi-medallist. He was notably in the staff of the English club Saracens then Pau, Biarritz or Glasgow Warriors. It was in Toulon that the coach of the Blues Fabien Galthié, former coach of the Var club, went to look for him to join the management of the XV of France from 2019.
