Real Madrid visits Barcelona at Camp Nou for an El Clásico clash where Hansi Flick’s hosts defend a six-point La Liga lead and Jose Mourinho returns to the Catalan stadium.
Thibaut Courtois Targets Barcelona Conduct Ahead of Camp Nou Showdown
The tension ahead of the latest edition of El Clásico reached boiling point when Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois launched a scathing assessment of Barcelona’s conduct. As both Spanish giants prepared for a deciding match at the top of La Liga, the Belgian goalkeeper claimed there was a distinct lack of class coming from the Catalan camp. Barcelona entered the fixture boasting a flawless domestic record before a midweek defeat to Paris Saint-Germain handed them their first loss of the campaign across all competitions. Real Madrid, meanwhile, have endured a frustrating season by their own lofty standards, but generated crucial momentum with consecutive victories right before their trip to Catalonia.
Speaking ahead of the derby, Courtois did not hold back when assessing the bitter rivalry. The 32-year-old suggested that the Catalan club consistently refused to acknowledge Madrid’s quality during an interview with DAZN.
El Clásico? First of all, we have absolutely no problem saying the names of Barcelona players, that’s where I think we are different. It’s not a problem for us to praise someone, even if they are our rival. We respect players who are doing a good job, unlike the other side.
Thibaut Courtois, Real Madrid goalkeeper
The Belgian shot-stopper dismissed any notion that the historic fixture had lost its traditional glamour, pointing to a new era of elite talent defining the matchup. He highlighted Vinicius Jr., Kylian Mbappé, and Jude Bellingham for Madrid alongside Raphinha and Lamine Yamal for the opposition. Courtois concluded his assessment by outlining his team’s fierce motivation: Over the last few years, they have hurt us in some games; now it is time for us to respond. Winning on their ground would send a strong message.

Raphinha Evaluates Real Madrid Without Vinicius Junior
Addressing how Real Madrid are getting ready, Barcelona skipper Raphinha talked about compatriot Vinicius Junior being suspended, the flexibility of Fede Valverde, and the comeback of Jose Mourinho to the Camp Nou. Asked whether Vinicius’ absence would benefit Barcelona, the Brazilian winger refused to underestimate Los Blancos during an interview with FCB World.
I can’t say his absence will be good for us, because Real Madrid ultimately have many players capable of deciding matches. It’s true that Vini won’t be there, but there are other players who can play in his position and make the difference in a match of this magnitude.
Raphinha, Barcelona captain
Vinicius Junior is suspended for the match. In his absence, Yan Diomande is expected to start on the left wing for Madrid.

Valverde drew high praise from Raphinha, as the midfielder could potentially line up as a right-back rather than in his usual central position. Fede can make runs from midfield and give the team plenty of options when he plays at full-back,
Raphinha said, describing him as an incredible player who performs brilliantly in midfield and also does an excellent job out wide alongside Jude Bellingham as the engines that keep Madrid functioning.
Jose Mourinho Returns to Camp Nou and Hansi Flick Chases Record Pace
The encounter marks Jose Mourinho’s return to the Camp Nou. His ties to Barcelona stretch back to the mid-1990s when he served as Sir Bobby Robson’s translator and assistant, although bad blood supposedly mounted after Barcelona selected Pep Guardiola to assist Frank Rijkaard in 2008. Mourinho eventually became Barcelona’s arch-rival, leading Real Madrid against Guardiola’s dominant side and ultimately ending their reign of dominance in Spain before facing Hansi Flick’s current squad.
Hansi Flick’s men are currently on track to rival the milestones established by Mourinho’s Madrid squad during the 2011–12 campaign. Ever since heading back to Camp Nou last term, the Catalan club has emerged victorious in all 18 of their domestic league fixtures at home, netting 58 goals along the way. However, the midweek defeat to Paris Saint-Germain occurred.
