A woman has exposed mail thieves in California who arranged to have Apple’s “AirTag” geolocation device mailed to her own address.

This is how the “New York Post” reported about a woman from California who was tired of having her job stolen over and over again. The newspaper did not identify the woman in question who was a frequent victim of mail theft, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office.

Police responded to the post office around 7:15 Tuesday evening when the woman reported the latest theft. She told police she had sent herself a package containing a small AirTag device that she could track.

Then the police quickly located the two suspects. They also alleged that items were stolen from more than a dozen additional victims, according to authorities.

“I commend the victim for her proactiveness, as well as emphasizing that she was also careful in contacting law enforcement to arrest the suspects,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement.

Virginia Francesca Lara, 27, of Santa Maria, and Donald Ashton, 37, of Riverside, were charged with possession of checks with intent to defraud, identity theft, credit card theft and conspiracy.
