Third bar opens on New York Subway

by time news

Can you drink on the subway? It turns out you can. Of course, not in carriages, not on platforms, not in station lobbies. However, there has been a trend to locate drinking establishments in close proximity to the rumbling subway trains, so that passengers can drop in to wet their throats on their way home.

Recently, another such bar – the third in a row in the city – opened at the 50 Street station on line 1. It is called Nothing Really Matter, which in free translation can sound like “All tryn-grass.” The place is lively, crowded: Broadway runs upstairs.

The owner of the bar, Adrien Gallo, even before the pandemic discovered this room at a depth of more than three meters. It used to serve as storage for the upstairs Duane Read pharmacy, but then it was empty for a long time. Gallo was fascinated by the idea of being right next to the station turnstile, which is always full of people, and immediately signed the lease. But the coronavirus intervened, and almost two years passed before the Vse Tryn-Trava bar was able to receive visitors. Now the owner is successfully catching up. The institution quickly gained popularity. There is no shortage of visitors.

The bar, which has the shape of a triangle, can accommodate 74 people. The darkish, devoid of any chic room is illuminated with red neon. Visitors are offered cocktails in a wide range.

The name was inspired by the lyrics of the song “Bohemian Rhapsody” from the repertoire of the band Queen. But it fits perfectly with the mood of the New Yorker, who, after a busy day on the way to household chores, is in no hurry to jump into a passing train and finds a corner where he can afford to relax for a while.
