A former bar waiter was sentenced this Thursday, January 11 to thirteen years in prison by the Loire-Atlantique departmental criminal court for having committed three rapes in Nantes (Loire-Atlantique) which he attributed to his “sexual sleepwalking”. His three victims had in fact described the same modus operandi: the bartender, now 31 years old, began by “offering drinks” to customers, before offering them a ride to his house. But when they refused any sexual relations, he transformed into a “sexual predator” in his own words. One of his former companions had also reported having been the victim of violence: he allegedly tried to strangle her in December 2019.

This “intelligent”, “charming” but “manipulative” young man admitted this Wednesday that he was “obsessed with sex” at the time. “I was like a drug addict waiting for his fix,” he explained, assuring that he felt like he was “seeing the X version of things all the time.” If he admits to having “raped” two of the three complainants, the relationship with the third was “consensual”.
