Chancellor:
A grand men’s and women’s kabaddi tournament was held in the memory of Raghavan at Muthumari Amman Kovil Thital in Odiyakadu village next to Peravoorani, Thanjavur district. 12 teams participated in the women’s category and 28 teams participated in the men’s category. The competition was coordinated by Nimal Raghavan. Prizes worth Rs 2 lakh 40 thousand were awarded to the winning teams.
In the men’s kabaddi tournament, the first prize was won by Vaduvur team of Thiruvarur district, 2nd prize by Mullai Venpura team of Ramanathapuram district, 3rd prize by Tiruppalaigudi team of Ramanathapuram district and 4th prize by Pasipattanam team of Ramanathapuram district and received prizes and trophies.
Similarly, in the women’s kabaddi competition, Madurai District Siddhampatti team won the first prize, Katagudi Sports Club team won the 2nd prize, Thanjai District Thannamanad Tennavan Sports Club team won the 3rd prize, and Nannilam Selvam Sports Club of Tiruvarur District won the 4th prize and got the trophy. In closing, former state kabaddi player Venpura Satagopan gave vote of thanks.
