/ The Iraqi youth football team will face its Lebanese counterpart, at four o’clock in the afternoon today, Wednesday, in the second round of the first group competitions of the 10th West Asian Federation U-17 Championship, at Al Saada Stadium in the Omani city of Salalah.

The national team’s coach, Ahmed Kazem, told Agency, “The Iraqi team is ready to meet the Lebanese national team in an important match in which it seeks to compensate for the loss in the first match against Yemen.”

Kazem added that he identified the most important mistakes that accompanied his team in their match against the Yemeni national team, which had good elements, especially since it was the champion of the previous edition.

He pointed out that the goal in today’s match is to achieve victory over Lebanon to compensate, return the team to its rightful position, and earn the first three points in the tournament.

The West Asian Federation Junior Championship opened with a match between Yemen and Iraq, which ended with Yemen winning 2-1. Abdul Rahman Abdul Nabi and Muhammad Shams Al-Din scored for the Yemeni team, while Alaa Al-Halafi scored Iraq’s only goal.

The Sultanate of Oman will host the tournament during the period from 11 to 20 December, with the participation of 8 teams: Oman, the host, Yemen, Jordan, Syria, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, and the Emirates.
