Three episodes tell the story of the family that runs the most famous funeral home in Italy. «The emperor» Luciano and his wife Luana, their two sons Alessandro and Daniele
Laugh at death to demystify it. From November 2nd (naturally) “This cash desk is not a hotel” will arrive at 9.20pm on Real Time, a docu-series that tells the story behind the scenes of one of the companies that have revolutionized the way of communicating (An example? At the presentation of the episodes premiered on October 28th, the invitation spread via social media read: “Who’s coming? We’ll all be there too with lots of tacky gadgets”), Taffo, the most famous funeral service company in Italy.
Three mini episodes (lasting 30 minutes each) during which the work of the Taffo family is told with irony and irreverence. Between calls in the middle of the night, difficult decisions to make and vibrant discussions between employees, «This coffin is not a hotel» tells the professional story of Luciano Taffo, owner of Taffo Funeral Services, an entrepreneur in the funeral sector who has been looking for to give serenity to grieving families at the cost of being strict and upright with his collaborators when something goes wrong. Because as “the emperor” says – as they call him in the family – the funeral is a “service that has no replies”. In the three episodes we will also talk about Luciano’s secret dream: to donate its first funeral home to the city of Rome. Will he succeed?
The whole Taffo family contributes to carrying forward the company: starting from Luana, Luciano’s wife, responsible for the pet cremation sector. Empathetic and affectionate with clients, her temperament changes when “the emperor” meddles in her affairs. Playing an important role in Taffo Funeral Service are the sons Alessandro and Daniele: if on the one hand Alessandro is the creative of the house, responsible for Taffo’s bold and irreverent advertising campaigns, including social ones, on the other Daniele is the more rational and precise, and it’s up to him to make ends meet for the family business. The staff is completed by the jovial Sandro Purificati, responsible for the operational area of the company, but whose task is above all to allay Luciano’s daily anxieties and anger.
