The story behind how the correct word ‘jimchi’ was incorrectly changed to ‘kimchi’ |
The names of our foods must be researched from the words of our mothers and grandmothers who made them and served them on the table. At one time, people who tried to find the origins of Korean food in Chinese characters were treated as learned people. So, there were many people who said that the etymology of kimchi came from the Chinese character chimchae (沈菜) or that the origin of bibimbap came from the word goldongban (汨童飯). Although it is a Korean food, it is rooted in the name of our people who made and ate it. How could noblemen or Chinese people have given it the name kimchi or bibimbap? The records of noblemen are merely Chinese character expressions for the Korean words kimchi and bibimbap.

Novel ‘The Vegetarian’ Yeong-hye’s psychology and schizophrenia |
The book that has become the hottest topic this year is definitely ‘The Vegetarian’ by author Han Kang. If you look at the opinions of readers, you will find different interpretations. This is because this is not just a strange story in a book, but can become our own problem at any time.

National Assembly Building “The pillars are like Gyeonghoeru, topped with a European-style dome, higher than the Government General Building” |
The Korean National Assembly used the former Japanese Government-General Building in 1948, and then used the Japanese colonial era performance hall ‘Bumin-gwan’, a building currently used as the Seoul City Council, from 1954 to 1975, and was currently located in Yeouido in 1975. In 1959, architect Kim Swoo-geun’s plan to build the National Assembly building in Namsan was elected, but the construction of the Namsan National Assembly building was canceled due to the April 19 Revolution in 1960. The current National Assembly building is related to the development of Yeouido according to the 1967 ‘Han River Comprehensive Development Plan’.
