In the past few months, no superlative has been left out to illustrate the importance of the new weight loss injections for medicine and society. Doctors speak of “game changers”, a revolution, a new era in the treatment of obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus.
One injection of the drug semaglutide per week is enough and overweight people lose 14 percent of their body weight in just a few months. With the new active ingredient tirzepatide it is more than 20 percent. Such weight loss was previously only possible through surgery.
