Battle of Djibo: This is how the Fighting Forces wiped out the horde of terrorists

Ouagadougou, Nov. 27, 2023 (AIB) – Drugged to death, a horde of terrorists on hundreds of motorcycles and pickup trucks set out on a mission to sow death and desolation in Djibo on Sunday, before taking control of the city. However, the patriotism, courage and spirit of sacrifice of the Fighting Forces made it possible to crush them to their last entrenchments. Here is the story of the events told to the AIB by security sources.

This Sunday, November 26, 2023, around 1 p.m., air vectors detected in the North-Central zone two large terrorist groups driving in the opposite direction at full speed and without stopping. Then suddenly, the largest group, with 300 motorcycles and several pickups, rushed into Djibo at its northern entrance.

Around 2 p.m., the 14th Joint Regiment detected nearly 800 terrorists speeding towards Djibo coming from Nassoumbou. RIA units used artillery to stop them. Drugged to death, the criminals braved the rockets and reached the outlying district of Djibo, called Djao-Djao.

They were joined at the entrance to the town by another group of around 500 fighters from Tongomael. Armed with pickup trucks, motorcycles and others on foot, they rushed towards their objective. Then suddenly, the Combatant Forces saw another group emerge from the south of Djibo from Pobe Mengao, numbering around a thousand men with several pickup trucks and an armored vehicle.

While all these criminals were advancing as one on the military camp, another group headed towards Baraboulé and joined the fight. Without delay, the air carriers engaged in combat.

While the valiant Fighting Forces kept a contingent of terrorists at bay with heavy fire, the enemy used an armored vehicle to breach the camp fence. For more than two hours, the fighting intensified and became violent, but the men held their ground.

Unable to penetrate through the breach, the criminals opted to attack another combat post of the Fighting Forces to enter the camp. There they failed again. Around 3 p.m., another column of several hundred motorcycles came as reinforcements and tried to rush through the two breaches opened by the armored vehicle. Mission impossible, the men heroically repelled them.

Then, the Combatant Forces changed their maneuver, the lookouts of the 14th RIA abandoned their positions and joined the battle. The air carriers coordinated quickly with the ground troops. Successively, the two terrorist groups at the breaches were decimated by missiles with a sound like thunder.

The criminals withdrew but quickly returned to the attack, reinvigorated by the arrival of another group to provide reinforcement. Here are their accomplices burning up, they avoided the fence. But they circled the camp, firing at the base with all their machine guns.

Faced with enemy resistance, several combat planes and attack helicopters quickly took the path to Djibo. Despite enemy attempts to shoot down the aircraft, the missiles rained down on them. This time, the criminals got the message. They fled in several directions. A column was neutralized towards Nassoumbou, a few kilometers from the base, thanks to fighter planes.

At 6 p.m., the air carriers circled the military base several times. It is intact. The brave fighters are on the move within and replenishing themselves after the fight. Their sacrifices and determination have been rewarded: Djibo remains standing and under control.

The fighting has stopped, but the hunt has only just begun. At Baraboulé, survivors were hit, their pickup mounted with a machine gun first. The criminals hide in the houses. They will be sprayed in two houses.

The terrorists who took the direction of Pensa will suffer the same fate. They are struck down under the large tree which served as their hiding place. On the morning of Monday, November 27, 2023, land units will take care of other survivors at Taffogo in the Tougouri area. The sweeps continue.

In addition to the great victory of Djibo, the Combatant Forces recorded several successes on many fronts during the week. The most important are in the Boucle du Mouhoun with several terrorists neutralized and equipment recovered. In the Center-North, an assault made it possible to neutralize a terrorist group and recover heavy equipment, including a mortar and shells.

Ambushes in the Bogande regions routed several terrorist groups. There are also reports of a large-scale attack on a major target in the coming days by terrorists defeated in Mali, reinforcing the groups operating in Burkina.

For example, on November 26, 2023, around 11 a.m., air vectors saw the arrival of a group of criminals in Yaktibo in the Center-East. A first group was violently hit by a bomb coming from the sky, while the others fled.

The Fighting Forces intend to maintain pressure on all fronts to force the enemy to give up.
