The renowned portal has emphasized that Cuban citizens are already accustomed to frequent electricity outages, but that in recent days they have spent no more than 20 hours a day without electricity.

For its part, the CNN channel reported in breaking news that the blackout is due to “a failure” in one of the country’s main power plants, highlighting the vulnerability of the Cuban electrical system. The network noted that the lack of electricity has affected the island’s ten million inhabitants and that the regime has been trying to implement emergency measures.

In a context of growing social unrest, these measures are expected to provoke even more discontent among the population, which already faces shortages of food and medicine.

The French media Le Monde stressed that the dictator of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, reacted on social networks, ensuring that there will be no truce until electrical service is restored on the island.

The note highlights that the Cuban nation has been suffering from the electricity crisis for three decades, intensified by the deterioration of infrastructure and the decrease in the supply of oil from allied countries such as Venezuela.

El País de España also mentioned the issue, summarizing that Cuba is suffering a national blackout and that an energy emergency was declared, due to the collapse of the electrical system caused, according to the prime minister of the island and ally of the regime, Manuel Marrero Cruz, due to “the state of the infrastructure, the lack of fuel and the increase in demand.”

Likewise, media such as ABC and Vanguardia, also from Spain, have echoed the news about the blackout in Cuba.

Likewise, other media have reported that the Ministry of Energy and Mines of Cuba has reported the total disconnection of the island’s energy system, after an incident at the Antonio Guiteras Thermoelectric Power Plant (CTE), the country’s main station.
