After the embarrassing mix-up of results in Linz, the party is faced with a heap of rubble. The shock is deep.

Many initially believed it was a bad joke. The election result from the SPÖ party conference last Saturday was accidentally twisted, according to a hastily convened press conference on Monday. Not Hans Peter Doskozil, but Andreas Babler won the vote. The mayor of Traiskirchen is therefore the new party leader, not the governor of Burgenland.
