This week on the “30 Minutes or Less” podcast:

11 and a half years ago, Saar Yuskovich and his partner Gal Shaul had an idea – just as a good mechanic can tell what is wrong with a car just by hearing the engine, maybe it is possible to build a product that listens to the machines and detects faults ahead of time. For two and a half years they were in a garage eating their savings, until they built their software and hardware product and got their first American customer who agreed to work with them.

Today, Augury, the start-up they founded, optimizes the work of the production lines of giant companies such as Pepsi, Budweiser and Colgate-Palmolive, saving them millions and along the way also reducing the customers’ pollutant emissions by 20% on average.

A year and a half ago they also crossed the threshold of one billion dollars in value, and reached fifty million in revenue this year, which they believe they will double in the coming year. We talked about the global crisis, the challenges in the industry and why building a company in the world of advanced industry is a worthwhile journey, but especially difficult.
