Death came suddenly and far too early: Habib Kaya was torn from a fulfilling life at the age of only 39. Great is the sadness and sympathy for the bereaved. The amateur soccer player and real estate manager leaves behind a wife and three small children. In order to at least reduce their financial worries during this difficult time, a donation account was set up. Hundreds of people are already participating.

Purposeful and always positive

Determined and always positive – that’s how his sports friends describe him. But people who have had professional dealings with Habib Kaya also have a lot of good things to say about him. Even in relationships that harbored potential for conflict, he was always fair and friendly in his dealings. This is what the managing director of the billiard club Grüner Tisch Buer 1931 tells, Bettina Weber.

“Everyone in the club was shocked when we got the bad news,” she says. Habib Kaya, who worked as a project developer at the real estate company Ten Brinke, was responsible for the area of the former Real supermarket on Hoppenwall in Herten-Bertlich. The billiards club is also based here – the tables of the Bundesliga club are in the old Divi furniture warehouse. “Our contract runs until 2030,” says Weber. The new owner is interested in quickly demolishing the old building and building residential buildings. So far, no new home for the GT Buer has been found. “Mr. Kaya always accompanied us well on our search and never harassed us,” says the managing director.

As an amateur footballer, Kaya wore the jersey of VfB Hüls from 2015 to 2018. He was also active at BW Westfalia Langenbochum, played at SuS Bertlich and coached the E2 youth of SV Westerholt.

In order to help the bereaved, a fundraiser was initiated immediately. Hundreds of donors took part in a very short time, and a five-figure sum was quickly raised. “It’s very difficult to find the right words right now. We are all deeply shocked by today’s news,” the caption said. “Our friend Habo left us suddenly and much too soon. Everyone who knew him will always remember him and his positive nature. We think of all the beautiful moments together. Habib – rest in peace.”
