It is often said that Munich Art is the best way to invest your money. But those who want to invest in works by celebrated artists such as Andy Warhol, Georg Baselitz or Gerhard Richter are all too often confronted with dizzying prices in the six- and seven-digit euro range.
So-called graphic editions by modern and contemporary artists offer an alternative. The spectrum ranges from the artist of the century Pablo Picasso to the German feminist Rosemarie Trockel.
What is meant by editions are lithographs, etchings, offset prints, woodcuts and sometimes photogravures that have been produced with particular care and are printed in a strictly limited edition and are numbered and signed by the artists.
However, this area of graphic editions is a broad field. And it works like the entire art market in one respect: the best chances of value stability and value growth have the works of renowned, internationally recognized artists such as Ed Ruscha, Sigmar Polke or AR Penck and Christo & Jean Claude.
