The Albert Einstein Hospital, where Juan Manuel Izquierdo is being cared for, issued a new medical report on Sunday on the health of the Nacional player, who remains hospitalized in a serious condition. According to reports, the situation has not improved in the last few hours.

The statement from the Brazilian health centre, located a few metres from the Morumbi Stadium, indicates that the 27-year-old footballer remains under sedation and has not shown any encouraging signs from a neurological point of view. Izquierdo was a substitute in the match between Nacional and San Pablo, at the latter’s stadium, and came on in the second half: he collapsed in the 84th minute, without suffering any blows or impacts with other players.

“Admitted since August 22, 2024 at 8:55 p.m., patient Juan Manuel Izquierdo underwent new tests this Sunday, August 25. The evaluation revealed a progression of brain damage and an increase in intracranial pressure. Juan remains in neurological intensive care, dependent on mechanical ventilation,” said the statement released by Nacional, signed by neurologist Marcos Tadao, cardiologist Carlos Serrano and hospital director Miguel Cendorogio.
