Imagine living in a technological city with tree-lined streets and lush greenery. You work close to home, and if you have to commute, you have a wide range of accessible options at your disposal. And worries like crime, which often plague big cities, are a thing of the past.
This is the dream of Marc Lore, a billionaire who became famous for founding the e-commerce startup Jet.com, which was acquired by Walmart in 2016. After the operation, the entrepreneur became the online sales leader of the American chain and achieved excellent results. However, in 2021 he decided to resign.
From e-commerce to equitism
After four and a half years working for Walmart, Lore was ready to take on the challenge once again. The successful entrepreneur wanted to dedicate the rest of his life to developing “a city of the future underpinned by a reformed vision of capitalism.” The city, $400 billionwould bet on a new social model.
This is Telosa City, a project that, according to its official website, will be built in Nevada, Utah, Idaho, Arizona or Texas. The “lighthouse of the city” will be its most advanced and important building, the Equitism Tower. It will have a roof full of solar panels that will help meet the goal of a city powered by 100% renewable energy.
Everything in the city will operate under an economic model called equitism that is presented as a inclusive growth proposal where residents are directly involved in the city they live in and have access to high-level services. The concept states that “as the city does better, the residents do better.”

Telosa City aims to accommodate 5 million people and offer equal opportunities for all residents. The city will have a Department of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) that will play a leading role in the development of this new social system.
