In the first 24/25 friendly test at SC Braga that was open to fans, Daniel Sousa brought in six reinforcements, presented some new features, but even added the first draw of the pre-season (2-2).

Without many reinforcements in the 11 – Amine El Ouazzani and Gabri Martínez had started -, he ended up being the most brilliant Spanish striker – goal and assist -, but other famous names stood out. Roger, a born and voracious agitator in 1×1, was the often better, but veteran Moutinho and captain Horta also showed positive signs.

The highlights…

  • Ricardo Horta: To the captain! He scored the second goal in style and was one of the most prolific in Braga’s side. In his image, he was accurate, meanwhile, he did not hide from the game and, above all, foreshadowed another season full of goals.
  • Salazar: Pressure, aggressive, capable bite the heel against any opponent, Salazar continued the good image he presented last season and showed great tactical commitment to the team. Defense was basic – he even helped Gabri tackle for the first one – and in attack he was close to the goal.
  • João Moutinho: Like wine! At 37, Moutinho doesn’t need to prove anything. However, the way he continues to prove he deserves the title is significant and it is important to highlight one of the swings in Braga’s midfield. Slightly more defensive in the middle of the two-man field, the midfielder was Salazar’s bodyguard throughout the game.
  • The reinforcements…

  • Gabriel Martinez: He is not always capable in 1v1, but very effective in his actions. Objective and with an eye for a goal, the Spanish winger was involved in both goals – he scored one and assisted the other – and received more credit in the fight for the starting spot. Surrender like this when it hurts…
  • Amine El Ouazzani: Very interventionist in front support and was very valuable in that aspect. The physical appearance is imposed against the central defenders, but the class was not ending.
  • Roberto Fernández, João Marques, Bartlomiej Wdowik and Bright Arrey-Mbi: The first two were more than the last two, but they all ended up having a little time to prove themselves to Braga fans. In addition, they came in the middle of multiple substitutions that broke the rhythm of the game a little. Wdowik still showed his grace on the cross, with a goal for Simon Banza in the final piece.

The return…

  • Gorby: He entered at 73′ and did not have time to show much service, however, he seems to be a valid option for Daniel Sousa during the season, as a midfielder who offers assertiveness and organization on the ball.

The children…

  • Roger Fernandes: He is the biggest unbalancer in the Braga squad. Fearless, to give and sell technical resources and a very specific unpredictability, considering that he makes difficult decisions with defenses with his ability to leave the dribble with both his left foot – his strongest – and his right.
  • Rodrigo Beirão: Called into the game very early due to Paulo Oliveira’s injury, he caught a cold and immediately lost the aerial duel with Pelayo Fernández to beat Rayo Vallecano 0-1. He could have gone down, but he showed mental resilience and recovered for a safe performance on the left side of the axis.
  • João Vasconcelos: He came on very close to the end to play on the right side, but he didn’t have a chance to show much. A tear remains in the central area of the retina, which did not have the best follow-up there.
