This has been verified by an article published in “The Lancet Infectious Diseases” that has carried out a systematic review in 26 studies of the level of immunity derived from infection by Covid-19 and from a combination of infection and vaccination, known as hybrid immunity.
The analysis shows that protection against severe disease and hospitalization remains high 12 months after developing hybrid immunity or having passed an infection, compared to unvaccinated and uninfected people.
One year after developing hybrid immunity, people were at least 95% less likely to have severe covid or need hospitalizationwhile those who were infected a year ago but were not vaccinated had a 75% lower chance of the same.
Protection against reinfection was lower than against severe disease, although it is still substantial.
Those with hybrid immunity were 42% less likely to be infected again a year later, compared to 25% for those who had been infected.
