The month of April marked a new success for a brand on the rise, breaking the Tesla. Its total sales volume is still not very high.
But you certainly must have noticed that every day there are more MG cars in the world. In fact, one of its models is already the best seller in its category. And it’s not just any car.

O MG4 bate o Tesla Model Y
The MG4 (here you can learn more about it in depth) was the most sought-after electric car by drivers in April. The British brand’s urban sports utility vehicle, now owned by Chinese giant SAIC, trumps the Tesla Model Y, no less.
The MG MG4 easily beat its two companions on the podium of best sellers, the Citroën e-C4 (274 units, 98 less than the British car) and the Tesla Model Y, third with 247 deliveries.
However, in the year 2023, the American compact SUV is still unbeatable with its 1,865 records, almost double the MG4, which is already in second place with 959 units, and the Fiat 500e, in third with 933 units.
MG Motor, a fashion brand
MG Motor delivered 5,624 cars in the first four months of the year, more than three times more than in the same period of 2022. In the ranking of best-selling brands, it is still not in the top 10, but it is not far from it.
And it’s also seeing individual successes with some of its models. In addition to the electric MG4, the MG ZS entered the top 10 best-selling cars in April.
Although it is still not very well known, the success it is starting to have is not an isolated fact. That same model, the MG4, was honored in England – its home market – as the best car of the year 2023.
In addition, MG boasts more achievements there, such as placing the MG HS as the best selling car in the month of January or signing record sales in the first quarter of 2023, which made it the second brand with the most electric cars delivered in the UK, just behind Tesla.
