Los prices continue to rise mercilessly despite the fact that the salaries do not accompany. The shopping basket has become more expensive by 15.2% on average in the last year, according to the Organization of Consumers and Users (OCU)what it means the largest price increase ever detected since the entity began to analyze them, 34 years ago.
In view of the situation, it is more important than ever to make sure which is the cheapest supermarket in Spain right now. To find out, the OCU has compared so far this year 1,180 establishments of 65 Spanish cities, that include all province capitals plus other large towns.
In addition, they have been collected 173,392 prices of products that make up the most common “shopping basket” in households in order to specify as much as possible how much each citizen spends.

“Choosing well where you buy is vital for save moneysince the average difference between the most expensive and the cheapest supermarket in a city is 994 eurosalmost a fifth of the annual expense relative in the purchase”, indicates the OCU.

The study of supermarkets shows that there are large price differences between establishments. The cheaper of the analysis is Hypermarket Alcampo de Coia in Vigo. They are followed by alcampo of Murcia and the one in the station square Vigo. In the group of supermarkets there are also Spar in Badajoz and Cáceres.
On the other hand, and despite having been recently acquired by The English Courtthe most expensive establishment of those visited by OCU is a Sánchez Romero on Calle Arturo Soria in Madrid.
