After the presentation of the trailer of the live action from the classic of Disney, Snow Whitesome fans of the production company noticed some peculiarities in the characters of the seven dwarves.

Being a key part of the film, knowing which actors would play these seven iconic characters was one of the most anticipated unknowns to be revealed; in light of this, Disney decided to make some modifications for this new version and according to the trailer that was released, these roles will not be played by people with dwarfism, as would have been expected.

The controversy over representation began when castings for short people to fill those roles were not carried out and the actor Peter Dinklageiconic for its Tyrion Lannister’s character in Game of Thrones, He criticized the way the film ridiculed people with his condition.

Following the controversy, Disney issued an official statement clarifying the questions, stating: “To avoid reinforcing the stereotypes of the original animated film, we are taking a different approach with these seven characters and have been consulting with members of this community.”

One of the first ideas of the production company, in order to avoid conflict with these characters, was that they would be represented by people of different races and heights; however, the idea did not take off and the decision ultimately fell to digital.

To avoid further controversy, the characters of the seven dwarfs in Snow White were created with CGI (computer generated images), a fact that nevertheless generated criticism because it considered that it takes away job opportunities for actors with and without achondroplasia.
