The ruling aims to implement a social strategy that would function as prevention of misinformation about the disease and would help in timely diagnosis. In addition, it is intended that, in the case of people who observe the presence of symptoms, they can receive help immediately to prevent the disease from advancing.

What is prediabetes?

It has been detected that, prior to the development of diabetes, thousands of Mexicans face a medical condition called prediabetes. It is considered a disorder or alteration of carbohydrate metabolism, in which blood glucose or blood glucose levels do not reach the values ​​of diabetes, but are above those considered in a normal population.

Taking actions in the field of health and public policies, such as the labeling of junk foods, as well as the regulation of fast food advertising, are factors that help improve the quality of life of people who suffer from illnesses related to weight.

The creation of the National Day of the Fight against Multiple Myeloma was also approved.

The Assembly also endorsed, with 76 votes in favor, declaring September 5 of each year as the “National Day to Fight Multiple Myeloma.” The objective is to raise awareness about the importance of timely care for this type of hematological cancer in the bone marrow, since Mexico is the country with the highest number of registered cases in Latin America.

Multiple myeloma is a malignant neoplasm of B cells of the blood. It is characterized by uncontrollable clonal expansion of cells that commonly inhabit the bone marrow, but it can also occur in extramedullary sites or outside of bone. The opinion was sent to the Chamber of Deputies for the purposes of Article 72 of the Constitution.

National Day of People with Difference in Limbs

Likewise, in plenary session it was approved, with 81 votes in favor, to declare on April 12 “National Day of People with Difference of Limbs”. The objective is to protect and ensure the full exercise of the human rights and fundamental freedoms of people with disabilities, as well as to ensure their full inclusion in society in an environment of respect and equal opportunities.

The president of the Development and Social Welfare Commission, Elvia Marcela Mora Arellano, said that with this ruling formality is given to the agreements reached in the first parliament for people with disabilities, which took place in the Plenary Session of the Senate .
