The Council of Torah Sages of Shas issued a statement this evening (Tuesday) referring to the end of the coalition negotiations, ahead of the swearing in of the government the day after tomorrow. The council expressed its desire for the “results of the negotiations”, and congratulated party chairman Aryeh Deri for it.

Regarding the internal distribution of roles within the party, Aryeh Deri will serve as Minister of the Interior and Health, Knesset Member Yaakov Margi will be appointed as Minister of Welfare, Yoav Ben Tzur will be a Minister in the Ministry. In addition, Malchiali will be appointed to the position of Minister of Religions and Member of Knesset Biton will be a Minister in the Ministry of Education.

Four other Knesset members in the party will hold additional positions:
Member of the Knesset Ariel Bosso – Chairman of the faction, Chairman of the Health Committee and Deputy Chairman of the Knesset.
Member of Knesset Yanon Azoulai – member of the finance committee.
Member of Knesset Yossi Taib – Chairman of the Education Committee.

As mentioned, the Council of Torah Sages of Shas welcomed the achievements of the coalition negotiations: “The Council of Sages expressed its satisfaction with the achievements in the negotiations on the core issues – Shabbat, conversion, kosher education, the world of yeshivot, rabbinate and jurisprudence, preserving the sanctity of the Western Wall, helping the weak , and many other achievements”.

The council also stated in the announcement that “with regard to the division of positions, the council decided that the first five members of the Knesset according to the order of the list will hold the positions of ministers. After them, the remaining members of the Knesset will hold the positions of deputy ministers and heads of committees.” At the end of the announcement it was stated: “The Council of Torah Sages congratulates the government that will be formed that will succeed in its mission, fulfill its days and fulfill its important goals for the benefit of the people of Israel.”
