Un the most successful restaurants there are always those that have developed into true culinary centers over the course of generations. “Widmann’s Alb.leben” is located in the Königsbronn district of Zang on the Swabian Alb. Here you can find the entire culinary offer: a small gourmet restaurant with a Michelin star (“Ursprung”) and a large inn (“Widmann’s Löwen”), plus an outdoor area, cooking school, shop, wine cellar and catering service (“Partylöwe”). Head chef Andreas Widmann, 35, who is responsible for the culinary program of the house, can look back on a long tradition, but also plays with new ideas.
This is also evident in “Widmann’s Löwen”. The meal here begins with a kind of Swabian tapas based on traditional dishes, called “Swabian Experimenterle” (17.50 euros), consisting of “Melted Maultaschen on potato salad”, “Lemberg tripe” and “Fried black pudding on creamed sauerkraut”. This is entertaining and a good opportunity to learn about specialities.
