This is the holiday calendar for 2024 in Catalonia

BarcelonaThe labor calendar of 2024 in Catalonia will have 11 holidays that will fall on weekdays, as explained this Wednesday by the Department of Business and Labor of the Generalitat after agreeing with unions and employers. Next year it will not have any macro bridge, beyond Easter, and at most long weekends will coincide. These holidays are those of a state nature and the autonomous ones, but, in addition, the councils must choose two more local holidays per year, which vary according to each municipality.

The 2024 holiday calendar

Christmas Day and Saint Stephen’s Day will fall on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively, while Epiphany will disappear from the list next year as it falls on a Saturday. Instead, it will be a public holiday again on New Year’s Day, which falls on a Monday. As for spring, there will be the usual Good Friday and Easter Monday, which in 2024 will fall on March 29 and April 1, respectively. In addition, May 1, International Workers’ Day, will be a Wednesday.

In the summer, Catalans will have a long weekend for Sant Joan, because June 24 is a public holiday and falls on a Monday. In the case of August 15, Assumption Day, which is a Thursday, whoever can can make a bridge. In the case of Diada, September 11, it will be more difficult because it will fall on Wednesday. On the other hand, in 2024 the holiday of October 12, which falls on a Saturday, will not be noticed. At the end of the year, there will be a long weekend for All Saints, because November 1st is a Friday, and also for La Puríssima, because December 6th coincides with a Friday.

In the Aran Valley, the feast of Sant Esteve on December 26 has been replaced by that of June 17 (Festa d’Aran), which falls on a Monday.
