The Federal Labor Law (LFT) stipulates the mandatory rest days and vacations that correspond to workers in the formal sector.
For this 2024, the LFT designated a new day off for employees which will be next October 1st, this due to the inauguration of the president in the Congress of the Union.

It should be remembered that the Ministry of Labor and Social Security (STPS) through the LFT, indicates the holidays or festivities which are not working days, but in case of having to work it is stipulated that the employer must pay double.
He Article 74 of the Federal Labor Law indicates the days of rest for this 2024, some already fulfilled, but here we leave you the list of those that remain for the rest of the year:
- September 16th
- October 1st
- Third Monday of every November (on the occasion of Revolution Day – November 20)
- December 25th
Which mandatory day of rest will be lost in 2025?
But for next year there will be a modification in the mandatory rest days which will be with respect to the transmission of the Federal Executive Branch.
This is about the October 1st, The same will be effective every six years when it corresponds to the transmission of the Federal Executive Power, which in previous years was December 1, but for this 2024 the date was modified.
That is to say, that from this 2024, instead of resting the December 1stwill be on October 1st of every six years due to the change in the administration of the Government of Mexico.

The LFT states that on October 1st of every six years, formal sector workers will be required to take a break.
