It’s about Luna-25, mission that will take off aboard the Soyuz-2.1b carrier rocket with the aim of collecting scientific data that allows to detect the existence of water at the south pole of the Earth’s satellite, a vital resource for long-term human stays.

Assembled at Russia’s Vostochni Cosmodrome, the Soyuz-2.1b that will take off on Friday the 11th at exactly 8:00 p.m.:57:10 hours of Argentina uses cryogenic liquid propellant engines -liquid oxygen- and not cryogenic – and T1 or RG-1 kerosenes.

In addition, it has a powerful and innovative RD-012 upgraded engine4 which significantly increases the specific impulse of the upper stage (326 to 359 seconds), and thus also improves the payload capacity from 7 to 8.2 tons compared to its predecessor: the Soyuz 2.1 th.

Russian flagship when it comes to putting both payload and astronauts into orbit, it consists with two stages and an optional third -the Fregat and its variants- and is reinforced by four “boosters” when taking off.

Has a length of 46.3 meters and a diameter of 3 meterswhile having a mass of 312 tons, is designed as a light and medium-class carrier rocket for new satellites that are smaller and lighter, it needs to be transported to low orbit cheaply, it has a maximum payload capacity of 2,850 kilograms and has a cargo lifting capacity up to an altitude of 200 kilometers in space,
