It is no exaggeration to say that Sakul Hameed is a very, very different singer among them. His gaanir voice and close friendship with AR Rakhuman are the reasons for that. Sakul Hameed has also sung in many musical compositions.

He was born on 24.12.1953 in a small village near Tuticorin in an Islamic family. He was very interested in singing since childhood.

He continued to sing in many stage concerts. Suddenly he got an opportunity to sing in a TV show.

In the early 80s, he sang more than 30 songs as a part of the singing show ‘Izathithenral’ which was aired on Doordarshan.

During that period, AR Raghuman was composing music for commercials called Jingus. At that time Sakul Hameed was introduced to AR Rakhuman at a concert in 1982.

As time went by, the friendship between the two became closer. They will also participate in family events. Together, they released an Islamic devotional song called Deen Izaimalai in 1989.

Then AR Raghuman released the album under his real name Dilip Kumar. Sakul Hameedu has sung many songs in the album released by both of them, including All Praises to God, in the music of A.R.Rakuman.

In 1991, AR Raghuman’s name was announced for the award for Best Promotional Jingle in Tamil for Leo Coffee. Rakhuman’s friend Rajeev Menon directed the commercial.

Mani Ratnam came to present the award on the invitation of Rajiv Menon. He not only honored him with the award but also established a close friendship with Rakhuman.

This was the reason for the formation of the alliance that later turned Indian cinema upside down. Since 1992, AR Raghuman’s musical journey began with the film Roja directed by Mani Ratnam.

The songs of the film became hits everywhere. It also won him a national award. He also regretted that he could not take advantage of his friend Sakul Hamid.

In order to overcome that regret, Raghuman made Sakul Hameed appear regularly in all his subsequent films.

In 1993, 5 films were released in Rakhuman’s music namely New Face, Gentleman, East Seemaiyele, Uzhawan, Thiruda Thiruda. Apart from New Face, Sakul Hameed sang in all the other films.

In 1993, the film Gentleman was released and became a box office hit. Sakul Hameedu who sang the song Usilambatti Penkutty as made famous by director Shankar in this film became mas. Swarnalatha sang this song along with him.

Later in the same year, Sakul Hameedu made his name known by singing the song Mari Ramsi Peiyatho in the film Uzhavan directed by Kathir, the song Nekkub Bondati in Bharathiraja’s Ishchich Seemaiile, and the song Rasathi En Usuru Ennadulla in the film Thiruta Thirutha directed by Mani Ratnam.

The last two of these songs became huge blockbuster hits. Moreover, there is no background music for the Rasathi song.

Sakul Hameed’s voice is the music that crawls. Ask once. You will be surprised. In 1994, he sang songs in the music of many composers including AR Raghuman.

But he was praised by everyone only for the songs Vandicholai Sinrasu, Pavitra, Mei Mata, Satsamma, Mei Mata sung by A.R.Rakuman.

The song Senthamil Nathu Tamilachiye sung by him in the film Vandicholai Sinrasu was appreciated by fans from all walks of life.

Vairamuthu’s lyrics, Sakul Hameed’s charming voice and Rakhuman’s music made the song very enjoyable. What is special about this song is that it is enjoyed by today’s generation as well.

In 1994, Valanthan produced by Kunjumon was a mass hit for director Shankar. In this film, AR Raghuman’s music was mixed with 9 songs Kalakko Kalakku.

Chakul Hameed Sema became a mass hit by singing Urvashi Urvashi. Chakul Hameed was amazing by singing the song “Pachikkili Padum” in the film “May I will go to see Madras Chutchi”.

The song Aathadi Enna Udambu Anganke Pacha Neriva sung by him for the film Sindhunathipoo became very trending. The same song came as a remix song for the film Nutbe Sub.

In the same year, Sema Mas, a movie titled “His Hip Throbs in Captain” starring Sarathkumar in the music of Chilipi. The comedy song ‘Echampazham Navapazham’ in the movie Pavitra was very popular. This is a song sung for Vadivelu.

Shilpa Shetty sang the Bombay Party song for Vijay in Coimbatore Maple. In 1997 Vasant directed Nerku Neru, the song Aya Varuwala was mesmerizing.

In the 1998 film Jeans, the song Varayo Dodhi Varayo Dodhi has been sung by many singers, but Sakul Hameed is sleepy when sung. This is the last song Sakul Hameed sang in Rakhuman’s music.

He is married to Mumtaz. He has 2 daughters. Chakul died in 1998 at the age of 45 in a road accident near Ulundurpet while they were traveling to their hometown in a car when they were both girls.

His death greatly affected AR Raghuman. Raghuman was very sad that he had lost a good man to a great man.
