This is what the green climate plan means: a new wind turbine every 3.5 hours – domestic policy

by time news

He wants to radically rebuild Germany’s energy generation: Climate Protection Minister Robert Habeck (52, Greens) wants to almost double the share of green electricity!

Among other things, his plan: By 2030, 80 percent of electricity should come from wind, sun, etc. (in the first half of 2021 it was 43 percent). Wind turbines should stand on two percent of the area. And: No more electricity from coal.

Can it all work out? Or will Habeck’s plans be blown with the wind?

► One thing is certain: Germany has to install new wind turbines en masse if Habeck wants to achieve his goal. According to energy expert Prof. Claudia Kemfert (52) from the DIW Institute, a good 2500 new wind turbines have to be connected to the grid every year. “We need seven wind turbines per day across Germany to avoid a green electricity gap,” said Kemfert to BILD. “For this, two percent of the areas in each federal state must be designated for wind power.”

MEANS: a new wind turbine almost every 3.5 hours! By 2030, around 23,000 more would be added to the 31,000 systems.

► A study by experts from the University of Cologne shows: By 2030, the output of wind power must increase by 3.9 gigawatts a year. This means that around 800 additional wind turbines have to be connected to the grid every year, i.e. a new one every 12 hours.

Habeck is confident that everything will work out. A spokesman for BILD: “We will now discuss the implementation of the coalition agreement step by step and vote in the federal government.” Details could not be “given yet”.

Critics warn against public deception

But critics warn against public deception! Ex-RWE manager Fritz Vahrenholt (72), on BILD: “The fact that it is supposedly only about 2 percent of the area is a big fraud.” In fact, the traffic light plan affects 10 percent of the area that is directly required by wind power .

The CSU also warns of Habeck’s “castle in the air”! Vice-General Florian Hahn (47) to BILD: “This plan is completely unrealistic. Politics begins with looking at reality. “
