The official prime minister’s residence on Balfour Street was vacated by Benjamin Netanyahu sometime in July 2021. As can be seen in the documentation from the official residence, the place is completely neglected: from the broken floor and destroyed walls to the desolation surrounding the house.
The Prime Minister’s Office said this evening with the publication of the video that “contrary to what was claimed, the house in Balfour does not need renovation, it needs construction. For a year and a half, the Bennett and Lapid governments did not advance anything to promote and use the official Prime Minister’s residence in Balfour. The construction work at the place is expected to last several years.” .
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu will continue to live in his house on Gaza Street, and last month he accused former Prime Ministers Naftali Bennett and Yair Lapid of not using the official residence. Those around Netanyahu noted that the prime minister would have moved his residence to the official residence in Balfour, but “the Lapid and Bennett government did nothing for a year and a half to use the residence in Balfour, the interior of which has been completely emptied and nothing was done to prepare it for living.” It was also reported that Netanyahu instructed the security officials to make every effort not to harm the way of life of his neighbors in Jerusalem.
