In 2001, “Der Schuh des Manitu” was shown in cinemas. Marie Bäumer played a special role at the time. The actress has changed since then.

23 years ago today, on July 13th, the film “Der Schuh des Manitu” appeared on German cinema screens for the first time. The comedy starring Michael “Bully” Herbig quickly became a mega success and is still shown on television today. Marie Bäumer was 32 years old at the time. She had already appeared in films before, including “Tatort” and the movie “Männerpension”.

In the western comedy by Michael “Bully” Herbig, Marie Bäumer played the slightly naive Uschi, a childhood friend of Abahachi (played by Herbig), who once gave her part of a treasure map.

The first scene with her is particularly memorable for many viewers. Uschi dances on a pole, wears a red western dress and makes eyes at the ranger (Christian Tramitz) before the bandits around Santa Maria (Sky du Mont) appear.

After the Herbig film, the now 55-year-old appeared in numerous other films. For example, she took on a role in the films “Napoleon”, “Adam & Eva”, “Dresden” and “The Taste of Apple Seeds”. She also played in the series “Das Adlon”. In 2018, she played Romy Schneider in the film “3 Days in Quiberon”. For this, she was awarded the German Film Prize for Best Actress, among other things.

In recent years, however, the actress has been quieter in front of the camera. But that hasn’t stopped Marie Bäumer from appearing in public. She was last seen at the German Film Awards in Berlin in early May. You can see a photo of that at the top of the article.

Instead, the “Der Schuh des Manitu” actress now dedicates her time to personal development. Using a method she says she has developed herself, she helps others to find themselves and grow beyond themselves.
