The most common thing when we are doing our physiological needs is that we spend time reading. Years ago we turned to magazines or the press, but since the arrival of smartphones, they are our inseparable companions when we are sitting in the bathroom.
But this habit has its risks, especially if we do not take certain measures. As stated in the Mirrora study carried out on 2,000 adults revealed that 60% of adults take their cell phone to the bathroom and do not clean it afterwards, which can lead to the spread of bacteria.
The problem is that afterward, 57% of respondents place their phones on kitchen counters, 47% on dining room tables, and 43% leave them on the bed.
The research revealed that almost a third of respondents never disinfect their TV remote, despite the average remote being touched 5,475 times a year per person.
It’s not just electronic devices that are often neglected in terms of cleaning, as other household items, such as salt and pepper shakers, teapots, condiments, and light switches, are rarely if ever cleaned.
The study also revealed that almost 70% of people would be more inclined to disinfect items in their homes if they could physically see germs or bacteria.
According to OnePoll figures, more than a third of respondents (36%) have used and shared the same hand towel at home for multiple uses, while 27% let their pets climb on their furniture and bedding without disinfect them.
Surprisingly, 13% of respondents even admitted to preparing food without washing their hands first.
