During the inauguration ceremony that took place in the context of the world photography day which is commemorated every August 19, the INER Art and Culture coordinator, Fabiola Valdelamar Vázquez, pointed out that the institute is a benchmark in care, research and teaching of respiratory diseases. Although it also stands out in artistic expression in medical units.

The photographic exhibition found in the INER Art Hall is made up of images that show the beginnings of the institute in 1936. It was the first hospital built in the southern zone for tuberculosis patients who required treatment and appropriate facilities for their recovery, with ventilated spaces, without humidity.

The coordinator of Art and Culture stressed that the dissemination of art and science was conceived from the creation of INER. Its original building is the oldest standing work in Jose Villagran Garciaconsidered the father of modern architecture and an international benchmark for hospital design.

Fabiola Valdelamar Vázquez announced that the Pasillo del Arte was created in 2015, with the aim of showing the artistic talents of the staff or exposing health-related issues, as a therapeutic space for patients, family members and workers.
