This summer, the Talsi region is particularly relevant in the eyes of Lithuanian tourists

by time news

In the middle of May, Lithuanian journalists came to get to know Talsi region with the aim of presenting this side in their media as a potential destination for tourists from their country. They have kept this commitment because they have shown the uniqueness of Talsi region widely, approvingly and glorifying both in the Lithuanian press and in the American Lithuanian magazine “Draugas”.

From May 14 to 15, Lithuanian media representatives from the daily newspaper “Lietuvos Rytas”, the travel magazine “Kelionės ir Pramogos”, the weekly magazine “Savaitė”, the electronic portal “Pozicija.org”, the newspaper “ aless, cliparts, magazines During two days, journalists visited tourist places and businessmen in Sabile, Laucien, Talsi, Valdemārpil, Dundag, Kolka, Roja and Kalten. It is really exciting to read the perspective of a professional Lithuanian correspondent on the tourism “pearls” of the Talsa region, because she brings to the fore what the locals themselves have probably already forgotten or take for granted.

Captivating at first sight

Looking into the extensive report of Danuta Kurmilavičutes, the head of the largest Lithuanian electronic portal “Pozicija.org”, which is reflected in several sequels, it is mentioned in the introduction that she has long wanted to visit one of the most beautiful places in neighboring Latvia – the Kurzeme region. “There is a lot of everything here – historic cities and towns, picturesque fishing settlements, protected nature reserves, mansions, castles, museums… And where else is Cape Kolka – a place where two seas meet, where, according to poets, the heat is milder, the wind is stronger, the sea is greener… But the most important thing is that very hardworking and creative people live here, who want Kurzeme to flourish and everyone who visits it takes part of their heart’s warmth and hospitality,” writes the portal manager. It is really exciting to read the perspective of a professional Lithuanian correspondent on the tourism “pearls” of the Talsa region, because she brings to the fore what the locals themselves have probably already forgotten or take for granted. In her descriptions, the journalist also touches a lot on the topic of history and highlights the current, important and special things that the particular place attracts. In her publication, Danute Kurmilavičute has extensively looked into Sabile, assessing the unusualness of the impressive landscape of the area. When describing Talsus, she mentions that the small town, whose symbol is the sun, is often compared to Rome, only it has not seven, but nine hills. “Such a situation gives the city exclusivity, a special charm, a unique aura that cannot be compared to anything else. Talsi fascinates at first sight. Here everyone discovers something for himself, for his spirit and heart. You simply fall in love with such a city, it attracts you to come back again and again,” the author mentioned, also describing Talsi hills, Vilkmuiža and Talsi lake and other beautiful places. The author of the report also looked more widely at the “pearls” of Kolka, Roja, Dundaga and a couple of Laucienes and Kaltenes, highlighting both the beauty and uniqueness of the specific places, as well as determined people who are able to create amazing beauty even from ashes.

It was also a huge return on the part of our entrepreneurs, who understood what needs to be done to gain the interest of Lithuanian tourists.

There are no statistics yet

“It is impossible to measure how many tourists refer to any specific information, but quite a lot of Lithuanians come to Talsi – both individual travelers and groups,” says Dace Cine, head of the Tourism Department of the Talsi region. “I cannot say that it is because of these new publications, because the last ones came out only at the end of July. I think that the impression will be more visible in the fall or next year. I know that Lithuanian groups have also stayed at the Talsi hotel. One family visited us very recently and said that they had read extensively about Talsa region in the Lithuanian press, but we do not have any other statistics yet. I am glad that the publications are also available on the Internet and in the Lithuanian magazine “Draugas”, which is published in America. I think that Lithuanian journalists have done as much as they could. They were shown these tourism resources that they could really get to know personally. As they themselves said, we didn’t just drive past them, but we got to know the tourism resources in order to really know what to recommend to our Lithuanian traveler. It was also a huge return on the part of our entrepreneurs, who understood what needs to be done to gain the interest of Lithuanian tourists. Thanks to them for that! If I read something like that about Lithuania, I would definitely want to go there.”
