As part of the beginning of the novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus this June 7, we share a message about the world that a mystical saint discovered after listening to the beating of the Heart of Jesus.

In the Catholic Church, Saint Margaret Mary of Alacoque (1647-1690) is known as the French seer of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and to whom the Lord asked that “on the first Friday after the eighth of Corpus Christi a special feast be celebrated to honor to my heart”.

However, some four centuries earlier, the Sacred Heart had already appeared to Saint Gertrude “the Great” (1256-1301), a German nun who on two occasions was able to put her head on Jesus’ chest and hear its heartbeat.

According to the website corazones.orgadministered by the Servants of the Pierced Hearts of Jesus and Mary, the saint recounted that she had a spiritual marriage with Christ, which caused her soul to be “as if absorbed” by the Heart of the Lord.

One day, on the occasion of the feast of Saint John the Evangelist, Saint Gertrude was able to rest her head on the sore on Jesus’ side and heard the beating of the Heart of Christ.

Then, looking at Saint John the Evangelist, he asked him if he had also heard it when he leaned his head on the Master’s chest during the Last Supper, and asked him why he had not told anything about it in his Gospel.

The beloved disciple answered him: “My ministry at that time when the Church was being formed consisted of speaking only about the Word of the Incarnate Word.”

“But in recent times, the grace of hearing the eloquent voice of the Heart of Jesus has been reserved for you. At this voice, the world, weakened in the love of God, will be renewed, will rise from its lethargy and, once again, will be inflamed with the flame of divine love”, Saint John emphasized, as the holy seer recalled.
