The President will be outside the country’s borders on Monday from 7:30 p.m. and also on January 14. However, on Monday and Tuesday the Speaker of the Saeima, Mieriņa, who should be the next to replace the president, will be absent, and during this time, Kalniņa-Lukaševica has been appointed as her replacement.
Therefore, according to the Constitution and the Saeima Rules of Procedure, on Monday from 7:30 p.m. and on January 14, the position of the President will be filled by Kalniņa-Lukaševica, a member of the Speaker of the Saeima.
Business trips are also planned for four ministers this week, several of whom will be out of the country at some point at the same time.
Minister of Agriculture Armands Krauze (ZZS) will be on a business trip to Germany from January 16 to January 18. He will be replaced by Minister of Welfare Uldis Augulis (ZZS).
Minister of Foreign Affairs Baiba Braže (JV) will go on a business trip to the Netherlands on January 15, but will be in Lithuania from January 16 to January 17. He will be replaced by Minister of Smart Administration and Regional Development Inga Bērziņa (JV).
Meanwhile, Defense Minister Andris Spruds (P) will go on a business trip to the Netherlands from January 14 to January 15. Economy Minister Viktors Valainis (ZZS) has been appointed as his replacement.
