Here we present the schedule of liturgical activities in which the faithful will be able to remember once again the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus.

Lhe Holy Week or “Semana Mayor” as many people popularly call it, formally begins on April 2 with Palm Sunday, however, the commemorative activities at the Nuestra Señora del Carmen Cathedral, in Maturín, will begin the day before .

Here we present the schedule of liturgical activities in which the faithful will be able to remember once again the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus.

Saturday April 1
At 05:30 pm on the esplanade of the main Catholic temple in Monagas, the inhabitants of Maturín will be able to enjoy the musical entitled, Jesús de Nazareth, under the artistic direction of the professor and renowned presenter, Milagros Simoza.

Sunday April 2
On Palm Sunday, three Eucharistic celebrations will be officiated to remember the triumphal entry of Jesus. Eight and 10:30 in the morning and five in the afternoon is the time where the bouquets will be blessed.

Monday, April 3
On this Holy Monday, at nine in the morning there will be a spiritual retreat for children and at five in the afternoon the Eucharistic celebration by Monsignor Enrique Pérez Lavado.

Tuesday April 4
On the occasion of asking for peace and life, the mass will be celebrated, presided over by the diocesan bishop, at 5:00 in the afternoon.

Wednesday April 5
At 9:00 in the morning and at five in the afternoon there will be masses in honor of the figure of the Nazarene, the latter being the office given by the Bishop of the Diocese of Maturín and at the end, the image will go in procession through adjacent streets to the cathedral.

Thursday April 6
At 9:00 in the morning on Holy Thursday there will be a catechesis on the Pascual Triduum and at 04:30 pm there will be a reception of the oils blessed and consecrated in the Chrism Mass.

Subsequently, at 5:00 p.m. the celebration of the Lord’s Supper will take place and then at 7:00 p.m. worship will begin at the monument until 10:00 p.m.

Friday April 7
The parish community will meet at 06:30 in the morning for the prayer of Los Laudes and continue with the adoration shifts to the Blessed Sacrament until 12 noon.

At 4:30 in the afternoon, the service or preaching of the seven words will take place and at five the celebration of the Passion of the Lord. It is estimated that at seven o’clock at night, the images of the Sepulcher and La Dolorosa leave the procession.

Saturday April 8
At 07:30 at night and with the lights of the Cathedral turned off, the solemn Pascual Watch will begin. Those who attend should bring protected candles and water in plastic containers.

Sunday April 9
At 9:00 and 11:00 in the morning, as well as at five in the afternoon, the celebrations of the Resurrection of Christ will take place.
