New Delhi: Françoise Bettencourt Meyers is the richest woman in the world. Her total wealth is $88.2 billion (about Rs 7,38,464 crore). This amount is more than the GDP of countries like Mauritius, Zimbabwe, Nepal and Myanmar. She is the heir to the L’Oreal empire. She tops Forbes’ 2024 ranking of the top 10 richest women. Jindal Group Chairperson Emeritus Savitri Jindal is ranked fourth on this list. She is the only Indian on this list. Her total wealth is $39.5 billion (about Rs 3,30,691 crore). This makes her the richest woman in Asia. However, Meyers’ wealth is more than double that of Jindal. Meyers’ wealth comes from her role at L’Oreal. L’Oreal was founded by her grandfather Eugene Schueller. He was a French chemist. Meyers has been on the board of L’Oreal since 1997. She took over the company after her mother, Liliane Bettencourt, died in 2017. Meyers is not only involved in the company but also leads her family’s charitable foundation and a holding company, Tethys Invest.

How much stake in L’Oreal?

Meyers and his family own a 35% stake in L’Oreal. It is valued at $268 billion (about Rs 22,43,717 crore). The company owns luxury brands such as Prada, Yves Saint Laurent, Lancôme, Maybelline and Diesel. In 2022, these brands generated revenue of about $42 billion (about Rs 3,51,593 crore). In 2019, Meyers and his family donated about $226 million (Rs 1,891 crore) to repair Notre Dame Cathedral after a fire.

Who all are there in the family?
